Being the Apple fanatic that I am, I had to have the new MacBook Pro when they released them a few months back. One problem: Shit is EXPENSIVE! The day they released I began saving. Any extra money leftover from my paycheck after paying bills, payment from my DJ'ing gigs, money from stuff that I've sold, was all saved to put towards my new computer. To expedite my endeavor I attempted to find an Apple employee to use their discount, and I even went as far as applying for a part-time job at the Apple Store (which I never followed up on) just to take advantage of an employee discount.

Finally I found some dude on Craigslist selling a brand new one for $2100, except he didn't physically have it. WTF?? Seemed weird, but I inquired anyways to see what this guy was trying to do. He was offering to purchase the computer with his credit card in exchange for cash. The first things that ran through my mind were scam and stolen card. So I asked what he had to gain from offering such a huge discount? Did he have a employee or corporate discount of some sort? Nope. What happened was this guy lost his job last month and he needed money to pay for rent. You can't pay rent with a credit card, and since the interest rates for cash advances on credit cards is ridiculous, he came up with the idea of purchasing a $2700 MacBook Pro for someone with his credit card in exchange for $2100 cash to pay for his rent. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

To make a long story short (I know, too late) I got my new crispy MacBook Pro, and he got to have a roof over his head for another month or two..... He's a really nice guy, and I sincerely wish the best for him. I really hope he's able to get back on his feet.

So here he is, the newest addition to my Apple arsenal. Meet "Big Mac" (That's what I named him, haha)



My 15.4", 2.53ghz, 4GB, 320HDD bad boy. The colors on the display are so rich. I LOVE IT!

And the icing on the cake, I used my Best Buy rewards card for this purchase, which got me a $70 gift certificate! What a good day.

I decided to change up the look of my blog.  The new design kinda messed up the formatting of the text for the older posts, but oh well.  It's really not that bad, but because I'm sort of a perfectionist, it would bug me.  Hopefully you read them already. haha.

Adventures in the Yay

Christine and I have been planning a San Francisco trip since February of this year. But with our busy school and work schedules we just never had the time to actually go. 9 months later we finally had time on Thanksgiving weekend. We had no concrete plans of things we wanted to do while in San Francisco, we sorta just did things on the fly. Here is our 2-day adventure in the Yay:

DAY 1:

We caught a butt-crack-of-dawn early flight out of San Diego. I was still full from all the food I ate on Thanksgiving.

Christine's cousin lives in downtown San Francisco, about 4 blocks from Union Square. Since he was down in San Diego f0r Thanksgiving, he gave us the keys to his apartment so we wouldn't have to rent a hotel room. THANKS MIKE! You saved us about $200+ . It was a quaint little studio, but whenever I get my spot in downtown San Diego, this would be the perfect size for me.

Mike lives in a "vintage" building equipped with a creepy old winding staircase and an elevator that you have to open and close the doors on.

Since it was "Black Friday", we decided to do a little shopping once we got settled in. First stop, Haight & Ashbury.

Being that I am a big Stussy head, we hit Stussy SF first.

I didn't buy anything here because they ran out of my size on their shop tee but Christine did. They had a pretty descent sale, I believe it was 20-25% off select items.

After Stussy we stood in line at True to pick of some new kicks.

Street performers in SF are by far the most innovative.

RVCA had this crazy ass window display.

We should try this in SD. Instead of passing out fliers, we should post them on all the light poles. Not one pole on Haight street was free of the propaganda.

This is my favorite picture of the trip. Someday I wish to own one of these colorful houses. I think I'll call it "hypebeast".

Once we looped around Haight Street, we hoped a cab and went down towards Huf on Sutter. 20% off everything in the shop.

From Huf, we walked a couple blocks down to the Hundreds. Their sale was only in the morning from 5am-10am. I still grabbed a tee anyways.....Hundreds x Disney? Crazy!

Mike's pad was just a couple blocks up from the Hundreds, so we picked up a little Thai BBQ and went back home to unload. I'd say we had a pretty good shopping day, and we didn't have to stand in line.

For dinner, Mike told us of this place in Japantown called Mum's. Mum's is a Shabu-Shabu spot (kinda like a hot pot restaurant where you cook your meat in a boiling pot of broth). But what sold us on this place was that it's ALL YOU CAN EAT AND DRINK!!! (for $39.95).

mmm, I like my sake cold.

We figured we would get our moneys worth by drinking all that we can. We had 3 large Sapporo's, 2 large Asahi's, and we downed 4 large sakes. Needless to say, we were pretty f'in twisted.

After dinner we planned on meeting up with the famous Mark Marcelo at the Levende Lounge. It was pretty far from Mum's, so we had to call a cab and wait for a little while. Mum's is located inside the Hotel Tomo. Their lobby was pretty freakin' cool. Very "Bathing Ape"/"Kid Robot"ish.

After waiting in the lobby for 20 minutes, our cab finally came and we were off to the Levende Lounge. Here is all I saw of the inside because.................

...........of this. Christine was so wasted from the "all you can drink" that we had to leave after being inside for about 10 minutes. We didn't even get to see Mark (sorry bro, thanks for the invite though). Oh well, it seemed like a cool spot with good music. We'll have to go again next time, but not faded out of our mind.

DAY 2:

We got up a little later than planned because of our hangovers. But eventually we made it out to Union Square to catch a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf.

We passed by Rasputin's Music on the way there. 5 STORIES of music. That's crazy.

The architecture in SF is amazing.

We got bored standing in line for the cable cars so we started taking a bunch of pictures. This one came out pretty cool.

After a long cable car ride, we finally made it down to Fisherman's Wharf. It was pretty crowded since it was a holiday weekend.

Got Crabs?

We skipped breakfast, so we were pretty damn hungry. I didn't think the cable car ride would take that long. Since we were at the Wharf, we wanted to take in some seafood. The street markets were packed, so we grabbed a seat at Bubba Gumps. The Cajun Shrimp appetizer was off the hook.

It has been Christine's lifelong dream to take a picture near the Golden Gate Bridge. Originally we thought we could walk from Fisherman's Wharf to the bridge, but it turns out it was a lot farther than we thought. So we hoped another cab, and he took us to Fort Point right next to the bridge.

She was soooo happy. And so was I because the sun was setting on our side so it made for great lighting to take pictures.

We explored this area for a good hour or so. Hiked down to the bottom by the fort, took more pictures, and watched surfers, yes surfers, hitting these big ass waves right under the bridge. It was crazy. Too bad I didn't bring my telephoto lens, I couldn't get a close enough shot of them. After hiking all the way back up, we got onto the city bus and headed back into the city.

We got off on Lombard street, but we had to hike again, this time for about 8 blocks (2 of them were up this steep ass hill that I swear is almost at a 90 degree angle) just to get to the more well known part of Lombard Street. Look at this cool house....I wonder how much he pays his gardener to maintain that.

Finally reached the top.

Good thing we weren't driving because there was massive amounts of cars that were trying to drive down Lombard. I feel sorry for those people who live here. There was literally thousands of tourists.

After taking a whole bunch of shots at Lombard Street, we hoped back onto the cable car, and went back into Union Square to take more pictures.

Merry Christmas from the Yay

We stopped for dinner at Max's on the Square. The food there was DEE-FRIGGIN-LICIOUS. Best we had during our trip. Here is my Skirt Steak Mojito, YUMMMM!!! Best part about this place was that it really wasn't that expensive.

After dinner we passed by this place called the "Owl Bar". We didn't go in, but it had some cool mosaic design on the outside. We planned on staying out longer since it was our last night there, but my allergies were acting up and I just wanted to go rest. Plus we still had to pack our things because we had another butt-crack-of-dawn early flight back to SD.

What should have been an hour and a half flight back to SD ended up being 5 HOURS!!! It was too foggy to land in SD, so the captain circled around before landing in Ontario to re-fuel. We sat on the tarmac at Ontario for another hour and a half waiting for the fog to lift in SD. We contemplated renting a car from here and making a day out of it by cruising into LA for more shopping and eating. But alas, we didn't have the funds to make it happen, so we sat and waited.
